My name is Drew, and I have been collecting Manchester City shirts for almost forty years. Like many collections, it all started with a single shirt.

In 1985, my parents bought me my very first Manchester City shirt. At the time, none of us could have imagined that it would become the foundation of what is now one of the largest private Manchester City shirt collections in the world.

Growing up in South Manchester, Manchester City was more than just a football club. It was part of everyday life. Through promotion campaigns, relegation battles, cup disappointments and unforgettable victories, City was always there. I was fortunate to experience the club during some of its most challenging years and then witness one of the most remarkable transformations in football history.

Over the decades, my collection grew one shirt at a time. Some were purchased when released, others were tracked down through fellow collectors, auctions and years of searching. Every shirt carries its own story. Some represent famous victories, others iconic players, memorable away days or significant moments in the club's history.

Today, the collection contains more than 200 Manchester City shirts spanning multiple decades, including rare goalkeeper shirts, limited-edition releases, cup final shirts, signed memorabilia and some of the most sought-after shirts ever produced by the club.

I lived in Manchester for more than forty years and was a season ticket holder for much of that time. Like thousands of fellow Blues, I experienced the full journey from the old days at Maine Road to Premier League titles, domestic trebles, Champions League success and beyond.

Football has also taken me around the world. In 2014, I was fortunate enough to attend the FIFA World Cup Final in Rio de Janeiro, proudly wearing a Manchester City shirt bearing Sergio Agüero's name as Argentina took on Germany at the iconic Maracanã Stadium. Watching Agüero line up alongside fellow Manchester City players Pablo Zabaleta and Martín Demichelis on football's biggest stage was a proud moment for any City supporter and a reminder of the club's growing influence on the world game.

Eight years later, I was fortunate enough to attend the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final in Doha, wearing a Julián Álvarez shirt as Argentina and Lionel Messi completed one of the greatest stories in football history.

For a Manchester City supporter, those experiences were a powerful reminder of just how far the club had come. From the struggles of the 1990s and the battle to escape the lower divisions, to watching City players feature prominently in two World Cup Finals, it was remarkable to see the club represented on football's greatest stage.

Five years ago, life brought me to Thailand, where I now live with my family. Although I am more than 6,000 miles from the Etihad Stadium, my connection to Manchester City remains as strong as ever.

I continue to return to Manchester whenever possible and am proud to serve as Chairman of the Official Manchester City Supporters Club Phuket, helping connect Blues from across Thailand and around the world.

Away from football, I have spent more than twenty years working in international finance and wealth management, advising clients and families across global markets. As a private wealth manager, analysing investments, markets and global indices has been a central part of my professional career.

One of the most widely used benchmarks in investment management is the MSCI Index, which I have worked with throughout my career. Over time, I began to see similarities between investment analysis and football shirt collecting. Collectors constantly discuss rarity, desirability, historical importance and value, but there was no consistent way of comparing shirts across different eras.

That idea led to the creation of the Manchester City Shirt Index (MCSI).

The MCSI combines my professional experience in financial markets with my lifelong passion for Manchester City. Inspired by the methodology behind investment indices, it provides a structured way of assessing and comparing shirts based on factors such as rarity, historical significance, collector demand and market value.

This website was created to document the collection, share the stories behind the shirts and celebrate Manchester City's remarkable journey through one of the most visible symbols of the club's history.

Every shirt represents a moment in time. Some capture unforgettable victories. Others remind us of difficult periods, loyal supporters and players who helped shape the club we know today.
